Supervision for Executive, Leadership and Organisational Coaches
I work with executive, leadership and organisational coaches, to map out the elements of coaching in organisations, reflect on their overall impact, and strategise on appropriate coaching responses
Organisational Context
Managing complexity and confidentiality in an organisational coaching setting can be scary and difficult. I help coaches make sense of these situations, and design ethical and safe responses to work experiences.
In executive coach supervision confidentiality is assured, as it is a reflection on your experience of the circumstances, not the details of the circumstances themselves.
The outcome of coach supervision is a positive-shift in the relationship between coach, client and organisation. We partner to gain insight into what is happening systemically, so changes can be made on the systemic level, whilst maintaining client confidentiality.
Systemic Approach
Looking at organisational coaching from a systemic perspective means considering the broader context in which the coaching is taking place, including the client’s organization, industry, and culture, as well as the relationships and networks that the client is a part of
Awareness
A systemic perspective allows coaches to gain a more holistic understanding of the client’s situation and identify the interconnected factors that may be impacting their performance. This understanding can help coaches to tailor their coaching approach and interventions to address the client’s specific needs.
Impact
By taking a systemic approach, coaches can help clients to identify and address not only their individual challenges but also the systemic factors that may be contributing to those challenges. This can lead to more sustainable change and greater impact in the client’s work and life.
Relationship
Coaching from a systemic perspective can help clients to build stronger relationships with stakeholders in their organization and industry. By understanding the broader context in which they operate, clients can develop more effective communication and collaboration strategies that lead to better outcomes.
Resilience
By understanding the systemic factors that may be contributing to their challenges, clients can develop greater resilience in the face of change and adversity. They can also identify opportunities to leverage the strengths and resources of their organization and industry to achieve their goals.
How Supervision Helps
Supports the coach as a person- learn to regulate your own experience and reactions to client/organisational behaviour and attitudes.
Develops the coach professionally- clearly understand dynamic interactions between yourself and clients, within organisations; integrate frameworks which describe organisations and relationships.
Integrates knowledge, skills, and attitudes into pertinent cases; understand where you are in your professional development journey and strategise your path.
How We Work Together
If you’re experiencing a challenging client or situation, we will first work towards being grounded, resourced, and resilient, to then make more sense of what is going on in your practice.
I work in a relational and integrative way, bringing material from various developmental frameworks into our work, to give you a meaningful and human experience, so you can do the same with your clients.
I use a variety of methods, models, approaches, and philosophies as is relevant to your needs and case. Of particular value to organisational coaches is Peter Hawkins’ 7-Eyed Model of Supervision, which maps out elements of coaching in this space.
Confidentiality and Safety
Navigating the complexities of relationships within organisations comes with challenge and sensitivity to ethical issues, personal triggers, and layers of complexity. As a coach, it is not always easy to identify these dynamics or understand how they may be affecting your relationship with your clients.
I partner with you to gain a deeper understanding of these issues. In challenging situations I will encourage you to remind yourself where you have already been effective, and I will work with you to strengthen your skills and see where else they can be applied.
When you are feeling stuck or uncertain, we work to understand what underlies the issue. This enables you to respond safely and ethically, with an impact that benefits not just your executive coaching client, but the organisation as a whole.
I recognize that the relationships within organisations can be incredibly intricate and multifaceted, and it is not always easy to navigate them with grace and sensitivity. I approach this work with empathy and compassion, recognising and responding to the many layers of emotion and complexity.
Together, we explore the issues that arise, work to build your skills and understanding, and develop strategies to regulate self healthily, work more effectively with your clients and make a positive impact on their organisations.
